The chair that becomes a family heirloom begins here.

BUZZARDS BAY · CAPE COD, MA

A chair made for someone by name carries something more than furniture. It carries a name, a place, and a year, set in brass in the left arm rest — flush inset into the mahogany or teak so cleanly that the brass and the wood read as one surface.

Your Name in Brass

The dedication plaque is a small piece of brushed brass flush set into the left arm rest of the primary chair so that brass and wood read as one surface.

Three lines. Caslon small caps. Roman numerals for the year — or standard numerals on request.

The family name. The property or town. The year.

It is not a label. It is not a gift tag. It is the kind of mark made on the foundation stones of buildings and the transoms of boats — permanent, formal, and irreversible. The same tradition that put a family name in stone above a door or into the keel of a vessel at launching.

The chair arrives. The recipient sits down. They rest their left hand on the arm and feel the brass under their fingers. They look down and find their name.

That moment does not happen twice. The chair that carries it will be in the family for generations.

How it works

Commissions begin with a conversation. Use the contact form to reach Rich directly. He will confirm availability, discuss lead times, and gather the information needed for your dedication plaque.

For the dedication plaque, three things are needed:

The family name

The property — town, island, or lake

The year

Every plaque follows the same format:

Lead time is typically four to eight weeks depending on collection and season. Rush orders are not available. Every piece takes the time it takes.

Dedication plaques are $250 per chair.

Trade account holders receive the dedication plaque on the primary chair at no charge. Additional plaques on the same order are $150 each. Learn more about trade accounts on our For Design Professionals page.
